A mural was unveiled Monday at Roxborough High School commemorating the boy whose life was cut short.
Designed by Calo Rosa, students from W.B. Saul and Roxborough high schools helped paint the mural, which features aspects of Elizalde's life such as his love for football and his Mexican heritage, Fox 29 reports.
"I held him here as he died," his mother Meredith told Action News. "And now, instead of that memory, we have this beautiful permanent piece of work, and wherever I go in the world, I'll know this is here."
Elizalde attended W.B. Saul High School and before that attended Lynnewood Elementary School in Havertown.
Cub Scouts of Pack 332 and Scouts of Troop 300 planted a tree in Elizalde's honor at the school back in November 2022.
