Take a break from the busy world and come to Sweetwater Center for the Arts for a girls’ night out! Let your creative side loose at this opportunity to socialize with the girls. Sweetwater is continuing its popular Girls’Night Out series with Altered T-shirts and Scarves! The summer season is the perfect time to clean out your closetand learn how to upcycle an ordinary plain T-Shirt into a trendy and fanciful shirt perfect for dressing up. We’ll learntechniques to make over sized shirts more fitted by weaving, cutting, stretching, and minimal sewing. Fitted shirts canalso be altered by adding decorative elements like ruffles and rosettes using parts of the existing shirt, or materialfrom other T-shirts brought in. Styles demonstrated include, weaving an ordinary shirt to make it a sweetheartneck, “Ed Hardy” styled slits, halter tops, one shoulder and much more. We’ll even learn how to transform a plain T-Shirt into a creative and lightweight scarf, perfect for the cool nights of the summer! Please bring in at least (3) 100%Cotton T-Shirts in various colors you’d like to alter and a pair of sharp scissors.
BYOB. Feel free to bring wine and snacks! Altered T-shirts and Scarves is on Monday, July 9, 2012 from 6:30 to 9:30p.m. at Sweetwater Center for the Arts. Tuition is $30 for members and $45 for non-members. This workshop is forstudents who are 21 and older.
