Monday Night & Wednesday Night Pottery Studio

The following classes are designed for students at any level of ceramics. Basic techniques will be discussed and demonstrated and for those who already have experience working with clay, more advanced techniques in hand building, wheel throwing, surface effects and glaze treatments will be shared. Materials fee is included in the tuition and covers 25 lbs of clay as well as firing/glazing fees. Students are strongly encouraged to purchase their own tools; tool kits are available in the Sweetwater office for $16.25 (includes tax).

Act 48 hours for teachers are now available for CS01 Monday Night Pottery Studio and CS02 Wednesday Night Pottery Studio for an additional $28. Participants will learn a variety of advanced techniques in hand building and wheel throwing, glazing and surface treatments that will aid in curriculum development. Participants will complete several pieces of ceramics that they may use as examples in their classrooms, and will learn how to properly load and unload a kiln, fire green ware vs. bisque ware, etc.  Finally, participants will learn additional models and vocabulary for incorporating critical response into their classrooms. Participants taking classes for Act 48 credit must attend ALL classes. In order to take a class for Act 48 credit, participants MUST notify Sweetwater prior to the start date of the class.
