Kenny Chesney Concert Hooligans Go on a Rampage - Who Needs This?

By all accounts, the Kenny Chesney concert that took place this past weekend at Heinz Field, attracted a horde of individuals, many of whom became part of an inebriated wrecking crew.

The tens of thousands that attended the event left behind tons of trash strewn  over a large area of the North Shore, prominently featuring alcohol containers, spawned ten major fights, engaged in public urination, indecent assault, disorderly conduct, underage drinking, drunk driving, and robbery.  Dozens of arrests were triggered.  This was no ordinary Saturday night in the city.  I pity police officers that must deal with such behavior.

Must Pittsburgh host an event which attracts the type of individual that is drawn to this "artist"?  Why would the city court those that abuse their surroundings and people and do not know how to act in a civilized manner?

City officials and law enforcement authorities know where hooliganism is likely to be perpetrated, and it is not at symphony concerts, museums, or art galleries.  It is at concerts like the Chesney debacle, at which, for many, alcohol fuels the emergence of the beast within.

Welcoming those who come to destroy the city is denigration. I hope that those engaged in the management of Heinz Field have learned their lesson.
