Part-Time Police Officer Opening In Yardley

After reaching full staff, Yardley Police Chief Joseph Kelly III is once again trying to fill another position.

YARDLEY, PA —Every time Yardley Borough Police Chief Joseph Kelly III gets up to full staff in his police department, he loses another part-time officer.

"We were at full staff, temporarily," Kelly told Patch recently.

But then the Upper Makefield Police Department had a full-time officer resign and one of Kelly's part-time officers took the position.

So now Kelly needs another part-time officer.

The police department has posted on the borough's website, and a Facebook post about the opening.

Yardley Boro is accepting applications for the position of part-time police officer. All applicants shall be at least 20 years of age, a U.S. citizen, possess a high school diploma or GED, and have a valid driver’s license.

Additionally, applicants must be enrolled or have successfully completed an Pennsylvania ACT 120 police academy. Former AND retired full-time, out-of-state police officers may also qualify for an ACT 120 waiver, which we will assist qualified applicants in processing., the police department stated in its application post.

"Yardley Borough is well known for its sense of community, outstanding shops & restaurants, recreational areas, special events, etc. We are looking for dedicated individuals to help us protect and serve in this great Borough," the post states.

In April, the borough hired part-time police officer James Routh.

In late February, the police department hired Lucas Murray to replace Heather Carnivale, who left in mid-October to take a full-time post with the Lower Southampton Township Police Department.

Last October, police officer Dakota B. Romberger was promoted to the full-time ranks. In September, Yardley hired Robert Gergal Jr. as a part-time police officer.
