South Drive Road Closed For Culvert Replacement

Lower Makefield Township officials said the South Drive closure will last into early November. See detours below.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —Motorists are advised to take detours as Lower Makefield Township replaces the almost 60-year-old South Drive Culvert over Silver Creek.

Township officials said the planned and budgeted $256,000 replacement project will be a much-needed improvement to the existing infrastructure, which outlived its useful life.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions from now through Monday, Nov. 6 as South Drive will be closed and detoured between Countess Drive and Woodland Drive.

This is the second culvert replacement project in the township.

The replacement of the Stony Hill Road culvert —a project that PennDOT said would take four months —has been completed a month ahead of schedule in late August.

Built in 1926, the Stony Hill Road culvert carries an average of 8,055 vehicles per day.
