New Details Emerge On Fatal Stabbing Of Lower Bucks Woman

Bucks County authorities have identified the woman who was fatally stabbed in Lower Makefield Township Friday.

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —The ex-boyfriend of a woman fatally stabbed to death on Friday told police that he "lost it" after he found out that she was cheating on him, court records state.

Trevor Christopher Weigel, 23, of Churchville, was arraigned Sunday afternoon on charges of criminal homicide, burglary, possession of an instrument of crime, disorderly conduct, and harassment during a video appearance before District Judge Mick Petrucci in Newtown.

In a court affidavit obtained by Patch Sunday, the Lower Makefield Township Police Department was dispatched at 2:22 p.m. to the area of 2507 Waterford Road for the report of a burglary in progress.

It was reported that a white man with black hair was seen entering the rear window at said location.

Upon arrival, Lower Makefield Township Police Officer Robert Kennedy saw the man standing next to a red, two-door Ford Mustang (with the passenger door open) which was parked at the curb directly in front of the address.

Kennedy said he saw the man chase after a woman, tackle her to the ground, and begin stabbing her in the upper portion of her body.

As the police officer got closer, he saw that the woman was bleeding heavily from the chest area and the man started fleeing the scene on foot, toward Interstate 295.

Kennedy said that while fleeing, he observed Weigel stab himself on the right side of his neck. Kennedy immediately began providing aid to the woman.

Police Sgt. Brian Holder, who had just arrived, began giving chase to Weigel and eventually caught up to him on Interstate 295.

Holder subsequently deployed his taser and was able to take Weigel into custody. While patting down Weigel, he observed stab wounds on Weigel's neck.

A bloody knife was located in front of 2805 Sterling Rd., a short distance from the location of the Ford Mustang and on the path that Weigel traveled from where he was seen by Kennedy at 2507 Waterford Rd to where he was apprehended by Holder.

The woman was identified as Jaden Battista, 19, who was taken by ambulance to the hospital but did not survive the injuries from the stabbing and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Body-worn cameras from police officers involved in Weigel's apprehension on Interstate 295 show him saying that he found out that she (who law enforcement believes to be Battista) was cheating on him and he "lost it."

Detective Peter Lange ran the tag of the Ford Mustang, which came back to Weigel. The vehicle was towed from the scene and was secured at a law enforcement impound lot.

Police learned through investigation that Battista's friend, who was not named, was speaking with Battista over Facetime at about 2:15 p.m. Friday.

Battista told her that her ex-boyfriend, Trevor Weigel, had just arrived at her house, unannounced, and was banging on the door, attempting to get into the home.

While speaking with Battista, she said she heard her say that Weigel had gotten into the house through a first-story window. She then heard a commotion, followed by a thump.

The woman told police that Battista's voice became muffled as if someone was holding their hand over her mouth as she attempted to speak. The line was terminated. The friend said she tried to make several callbacks, but they went unanswered.

At 8:20 a.m. Saturday, Dr. Ian Hood performed an autopsy of Battista at the Bucks County Forensic Center. He concluded that Battista died as a result of multiple stab wounds to the neck and chest.
