DUI Driver Rams Stones With Porsche
Barrington Avenue man faces multiple charges after crashing vehicle into stone wall and then leaving the scene of the accident on Maple Avenue.
A Barrington man, 32, faces drunk-driving charges after he drove his Porsche through a stone wall at 700 Maple Ave. near Middle Highway late Sunday night and then left the scene of the accident.
David K. Onik of Barrington Avenue hit the wall at approximately 10:21 pm, according to police. He backed his vehicle off the wall and onto the street and then drove home, police said. Onik and his passenger, Rachel Onik, were not injured.
Onik was charged by police with DUI first offense, refusing to submit to a chemical test, refusing to submit to a preliminary breath test, failure to maintain proper control of his motor vehicle, failure to file an accident report and laned roadway violations.

Police said Onik initially said he hit a wall off of Route 195 after being cut off by another vehicle while driving home. He later admitted that he was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Police responded on Sunday morning to a request for medical aid that became a βsudden deathβ at an Adams Point Road home.
A Warren man, 56, was found slumped at a table and unresponsive by a man delivering an electronic part for a respirator that reportedly was not working properly, police said. The victim suffered from COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), according to police.
The victim was dog-sitting at his sisterβs house on Adams Point Road, police said. A dog on a leash was tied just inside the front door when the delivery man arrived.Β
School sign vandalizedΒ
Police responded to a report of alarm going off at Nayatt School on Nayatt Road on Saturday evening.
The report came from the private alarm company. Police discovered vandalism to a window screen and the sign at the playground, which was painted with a picture of a cat face.
Police responded at about 8 pm. There was no entry to the school.
Customer in restaurant tiff
A customer and the manager of the Newport Creamery on County Road gave conflicting accounts to police on Thursday evening after a verbal confrontation in the restaurant.
The customer was accused of threatening an employee who reportedly was rude to customers, police said.
The manager disagreed with that description of the incident and called police to report the customerβs actions as disorderly and threatening. No one was charged.
