• Barrington ranked 5th among Rhode Island cities for scam reports in July (southcotimes.com) — Barrington logged three scam reports in July, ranking fifth among Rhode Island communities using the BBB Scam Tracker, with reported local losses totaling about $114. Most involved online purchase scams, including one where a website allegedly stole a resident's credit card number. The Better Business Bureau urges residents to use its tracker to research suspicious offers and report scams.

• Rhode Island school-zone speed cameras are turning back on: here's where they're located (wpri.com) — Barrington still has no school-zone speed cameras, though police previously said the town was in the very early stages of exploring them and have been asked for an update. A statewide roundup shows many neighboring communities either activating cameras as school starts or choosing not to install them. The piece also notes Massachusetts may soon allow similar enforcement in school and construction zones.
