NK's Andrews, Heisman Finalist, Shows "Hunger to Discover" her Passion in Video

Sarah Andrews, a senior at North Kingstown High School, is a finalist in the Wendy's High School Heisman program this year.

“I’m not super talented in soccer. I’m not the best musician you’ve ever seen. But I think that the reason I’ve had success is because I work hard.”

Those are the words of Sarah Andrews, a North Kingstown High School senior, athlete, and finalist in the Wendy’s High School Heisman program.

The winners will be announced on Friday, and Andrews is one of just a handful of other student athletes around the country who have earned a spot in the finals.

Andrews swims, plays soccer and started a mentoring program to help younger players on the team. She’s ranked at the top of her class academically and manages to find time to play trombone in the school symphonic and senior jazz bands.

“My parents instilled such good ideas in my sister and I before we knew what was happening,” Andrews said in an interview with USA Today. “The thing I’m most proud of this year is we used to have a clique-y soccer team. It wasn’t fun socially, but this year, we didn’t have as many issues. I was the captain and I got to decide some things and we instituted a big-sister, little-siter program. We gave each other snacks before every game. The pasta parties were for the varsity and the JV. We didn’t have a successful team on the field, but despite that, there were not issues because we were such a good group.”
