Two Projects, Double Traffic Delays on West Main Road

Road work for two unrelated projects at busy intersections along West Main Road continued to cause significant traffic delays Thursday in Middletown.

Road work is expected to continue through Friday and motorists are advised to plan ahead, either allowing for extra time to reach their destination or take alternate north-south routes.

Motorists can continue to expect some traffic delays and disruptions on West Main Road at the intersections of Valley Road and Forest Avenue, as well as temporary and intermittent road closures on the northwest end of Valley Road. West Main-to-Valley Road traffic on Thursday was detoured about one half-mile south to East Main Road.

The intersection of  West Main and Valley roads is undergoing construction for the installation of new drainage for a new Town Fair Tire to open at that corner sometime between October and November.

Workers at the intersection of West Main Road and Forest Avenue were installing new crosswalks with curb cuts.
