Routine Traffic Patrols Yield Multiple Weekend Arrests

Multiple arrests occurred over the weekend stemming from routine traffic stops that led to other charges.

The Middletown Police Department on Monday reported the following recent arrests and citations:

• Around 1:30 am Monday, Dylan M. Pires, 18, of 43 Dighton Ave., Portsmouth, was charged with a 1^st offense misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession after police stopped his 1994 white Audi on East Main Road near the intersection of Wyatt Road after allegedly observing his car move into the adjacent lane several times. Police at the scene allegedly found marijuana and other paraphernalia in Pires' car. Pires was ordered to appear before District Court on Aug. 27, 2010.

• Michael C. Martin, 28, of Middletown, was arrested around 10:30 am Sunday, for alleged domestic assault, a misdemeanor charge, after the Middletown Fire Department reportedly responded to treat a head injury of a woman at his address. According to police reports, the victim told police that Martin allegedly hit her in the face earlier in the night and later pushed her, causing her to fall and hit her head on the coffee table.

• Dean Paul Domingoes, 19, of 721 Bay Street, Fall River, was charged with underage possession of alcohol, a misdemeanor, around 1 am Sunday morning, after police on patrol performed a routine traffic stop on West Main Road near Maplewood Road. He was ordered to appear before Municipal Court on Aug. 24, 2010.

• Benjamin T. Larkin, 19, of 1403 East Main Road, Portsmouth, was charged with felony possession of narcotics and cited for speeding, around 1 am Sunday morning, when police on patrol stopped his green Chevrolet sedan on West Main Road near Maplewood Road. Police allegedly confiscated hydrocodone pills at the scene.

• Eric J. Rapoza, 20, of 100 Almeida Terrace, Portsmouth, was cited with misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and eluding police on Sunday around 1:39 pm when police allegedly clocked his 1988 Pontiac Firebird going 68 mph on East Main Road and observed Rapoza make abrupt maneuvers while pursuing his car.

• Katie S. Demalia, 19, of 45 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA, was charged with misdemeanor offenses of allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and refusing to take a blood-alcohol chemical test Saturday around 6 pm after police reportedly stopped her car doing 36 mph in a 25 mph posted zone. Police who conducted field tests at the scene reported that Demalia blew a .103 on the alcohol breath test.

• Steven C. Robinson, 22, of 195 Admiral Kalbfus, Newport, was arrested Saturday around 1 am on three outstanding Superior Court bench warrants for sentencing violations and one District Court bench warrant. Robinson was held and transported to the Adult Correctional Institution (ACI) in Cranston.

• A 17-year-old Middletown woman was arrested Friday around 3:30 pm on misdemeanor charges of marijuana and knife possession, after police reportedly stopped her car for speeding near the intersection of Aquidneck Avenue and Valley Road. Police also cited her for driving 55 mph in a posted 25 mph zone.
