On Anniversary of Epic Rager, Narragansett Police to Step Up Party Patrol This Weekend
After last year's episode that left Green Lane covered in glass and 18 students arrested, Narragansett Police said they're ready this year.

A year after a raging off-campus party that drew more than 1,000 people to Greene Lane in Narragansett and led to 18 arrests, local police announced plans to step up enforcement this weekend.
The Narragansett Police Department announced in a press release on Friday that they plan to supplement patrols and “maintain strict enforcement of the state laws and local ordinances, particularly those associated with drinking in public and disorderly conduct, to sustain the quality of life our residents expect.”
Along with increased patrols, the department has recruited the Rhode Island State Police and the South Kingstown Police Department to help keep things peaceful.

The May 3 party last year began with a crowd of students drinking outside in the yards of several rental houses. Eventually, a fracas ensued and students began hurling bottles, tearing out mailboxes and essentially launching a riot.
The over-the-top display of foolishness and destruction enraged longtime residents fed up with noise and parties that have plagued numerous neighborhoods, especially the Eastward Look neighborhood, for years.

The destruction was shared with the world after several students posted videos on YouTube.
The incident left the street covered in glass from broken bottles and signaled a low point in the town of Narragansett’s efforts to work with the University of Rhode Island to limit the effect of rowdy behavior on year-round residents.
Police hope that this year, with an overwhelming law enforcement presence in town, “the increased enforcement will discourage students from participating in large, unruly gatherings this weekend.”
