RI Beach Snack Bar Employee Tests Positive For Coronavirus

NARRAGANSETT, RI — The snack bar at Scarborough Beach South was closed over the weekend after an employee tested positive for coronavirus, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management said.

The snack bar's vendor reported the positive case to the department at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, and the Department of Health was notified for contact tracing purposes.

The concession stand follows Centers For Disease Control and Prevention and health department guidelines for safety, with plexiglass dividers at the register and the requirement that all employees wear masks. It will remain closed until the department has thoroughly cleaned and sanitized it.

The employee worked at the stand July 24, and was not identified in any way for privacy reasons.

Scarborough Beach South was closed from July 21 to 23 due to high bacteria levels, and reopened July 24.
