Still Un-Official Election Results: Newport

Of course, the candidates still have until Nov. 16 at 4 p.m. to request a recount.

NEWPORT, RI – Here are the still un-official results for Newport in the Nov. 8 election. The numbers include the mail ballots.

Two councilors are new. Susan Taylor defeated Marco Camacho for the Ward 1 Council seat. In the At Large race, Jamie P. Bova was elected, and Councilor Justin McLaughlin lost out. For the School Committee, Raymond E. Gomes is a newcomer. Incumbent Robert J. Leary was defeated.

City Council Race (Ward 1)

Susan D. Taylor: 1080 (52.9 percent);

Marco T. Camacho: 950(46.6 percent)


City Council Race (At Large): The four top vote-getters win seats.

Henry F. Winthrop: 5,040 (20.8 percent);

Jeanne Marie Napolitano: 4,867 (20.1 percent);

Jamie P. Bova: 4,075 (16.8 percent);

John F. Florez: 3,890 (16.1 percent);

Justin S. McLaughlin: 3,742 (15.5 percent);

Kimberly L. Shute: 1,379 (5.7 percent);

Claude Andrews Lavarre: 1084, (4.5 percent).

School Committee: (Top seven win):

Raymond E. Gomes: 3,771 (10.7 percent);

Kathleen M. Silvia: 3707(10.5 percent);

Jo Eva Gaines: 3503 (9.9 percent);

Rebecca Bolan: 3371 (9.6 percent);

Sandra J. Flowers: 3265 (9.3 percent);

David R. Carlin, III: 3090 (8.8 percent);

David Charles Hanos, Jr. 2795 (7.9 percent);

Robert J. Leary: 2776 (7.9 percent);

Jennifer Elizabeth Jackson: 2233 (6.6 percent);

Henry P. Kniskern: 2295 (6.5 percent);

Thomas S. Phelan: 2174 (6.2 percent);

Adrienne Clemente Haylor: 2047 (5.8 percent).

Amy Veri (R): 311 (31.4 percent)

House District 75

Laura Carson (D): 2895 (56.1 (percent)

Mike Smith (I): 2245 (43.5 percent)
