On May 15, Tabor Academy, a co-ed, day and boarding, independent high school located along the shores of Buzzards Bay in Marion, MA, will bring their flagship 92’ schooner, SSV TABOR BOY, to Newport, RI, to enjoy the festivities surrounding the stopover of the famous Volvo Ocean Race.

Tabor invites the public for an Open Ship, including tours of the 100-year old sail-training vessel from 10am-12pm and again from 2pm to 4pm at Newport Shipyard, One Washington Street, Newport, RI. Come take a tour and learn about Tabor Academy’s program, especially their unique marine and nautical sciences offerings, and maritime heritage while enjoying the energy of America’s sailing capital during one of the world’s premiere sailing events: The Volvo Ocean Race.

The schooner TABOR BOY recently celebrated her 100th Anniversary with a year-long series of events, as well as the screening of a documentary about her history, Tabor Boy: 100 Years at Sea, that aired on Rhode Island PBS in December. The film will return to Rhode Island PBS in June.
