• Former Taunton High football captain named NCAA Division 1 FCS captain (tauntongazette.com) — A standout defensive lineman at Bryant University in Smithfield has been named one of the Bulldogs' five football captains for the 2026 season. Former Taunton High captain Nathan LaPlante earned the honor after a strong junior year, highlighted by 15 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss, as Bryant looks to rebound from last season's 3-9 campaign.
