1. A Cleaner Aiken Starts Here Clean Up Aiken (citylifestyle.com) — Clean Up Aiken is ramping up its volunteer efforts to tackle persistent litter along roads like Whiskey Road and across the wider county. The nonprofit now runs organized cleanups, provides supplies and safety briefings, and is expanding education for local students. Residents can easily plug in to help keep neighborhoods cleaner and more welcoming.
   

2. Downtown Aiken Lane Closures Set for Early October as Hotel Renovation Work Continues (kicks99.com) — Drivers and pedestrians in downtown Aiken should prepare for long-term lane closures on Richland Avenue, Newberry Street, and Bee Lane as a major hotel renovation and new 200-car parking garage get underway. Eastbound Richland between Laurens and Newberry will close, with barriers and a protected walkway guiding traffic. Construction is expected to last 12–15 months, finishing around early 2028.
   

3. Salvation Army of Aiken seeks help as Food Pantry supply runs low (wfxg.com) — The Salvation Army of Aiken says its food pantry shelves are critically low just as demand from local families keeps rising. Staff are asking Aiken County residents, stores, and companies to donate nonperishable foods like vegetables, tuna, pasta, and sauce. With colder weather and holiday programs approaching, community support now will help keep neighbors fed.
   

4. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. to Host Statewide Conference in Columbia, SC (carolinapanorama.com) — Alpha Phi Alpha's South Carolina chapters, including those in Aiken and at USC Aiken, are gearing up for a major statewide conference in Columbia October 8–10. Local brothers and clergy tied to Aiken will help lead public forums, health workshops, scholarship competitions, and recognition events aimed at service, faith, and leadership development across the state.
