Update on Homeless Veterans Post
An update on the homeless veterans post. I have more information as well as an update on the information that I received from the viewers on patch.com
First I want to thank everyone who responded to my post on here last month about wanting to help homeless veterans. One post gave me more information about programs to help, but the housing facility has to be in place for most of this.
Fast Forward to recently. I was the guest speaker at another church a few weeks ago and before the service I had shared my wish and vision for being able to help these men. At the end of the service I was presented with $50 to start the fund. Now, I know what you're thinking. $50 won't buy or build a facility. Maybe, Maybe Not. I know a God who can accomplish anything that is needed for this. Already, that $50 has been matched. So we're up to $100. A savings account connected to the church has been established with this money, so now we're waiting on God to multiply.
How or when it will happen I do not know. But what God has started, no man can stop. At our church, New Visions Fellowship, this is going to be one of our missions that we will put at the forefront of our ministry.

If you are new to this subject, here is a rundown:
Pickens County has no homeless shelter in the county. We've had several people come through our ministry that are veterans and are homeless. One in particular had fallen into a life of drinking/drugs, gotten into a rehab program and successfully graduated. But he went into the program homeless, and came out homeless. We want to be the ones at the door of completion saying: "Welcome, we're going to help you back on your feet." We want to take these vets in (they gave all of themselves, why shouldn't we give back?) and house them, teach them to have the necessary job skills, teach them how to maintain a household (cooking, cleaning, laundry), how to balance their monies and help them get back to work, or if more education is needed, help them secure the funds to go back to school for degree, diploma, certificate or GED if still needed. Then when they are ready to be back on their own, help them find their own private place to live, help furnish with needed furnishings so that they can be an active productive part and restore their self-esteem.

We're going to be working at fundraising (contributions will be tax deductible) in the coming months and in a lot of prayer as to how God would have this proceed. So be in prayer, if you can help in this mission in any way (monetary, fund raising, manpower), please feel free to contact me pastor@newvisionsfellowship.org
Thank you for all of your feedback and keep this in your prayers!
Sincerely,
Rev. Keith Moreland
