WORK AS UNTO THE LORD

Colossians 3:23-24

23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

     My wonderful wife and I were enjoying some time together at a local fast food restaurant yesterday when the manager sad down in the dining room to correct an employee. While the manager was very polite and dignified in her actions the employee was very loud and rude. I could not help but think of this verse.

      I am a 51 yr old Air Force Veteran. I am also a licensed minister. Until GOD opens the door to full time salaried ministry I work in a secular job. I work as a cleaning person in a retail store. However each and everyday when I go to work I work just as hard and diligently as if GOD was right there as my supervisor. Because HE is. The jobs which we have are true BLESSINGS. How I work each day is as much a part of my witness as any sermon I may bring.I remember this summer. My 15 yr old daughter worked a job as a babysitter. She was faithful and honest each day in her work. Each of us owe are employers no less.

       As we go about are daily job we need to do it with pride and joy working as unto GOD. With so many millions out of work in the GREAT NATION we should be glad we that the LORD has BLESSED us with the opportunity to SERVE HIM :)
