Regional Crime: Greenwood fentanyl trafficker sentenced to 25 years in prison (myclintonnews.com) — A Greenwood man has been sentenced to 25 years in state prison after a Greenwood County jury convicted him of fentanyl trafficking and related gun charges from a January arrest on Hall Avenue. Police say they found fentanyl, cash, and two pistols after he tried to flee in a Dodge Charger. Prosecutors say the stiff sentence reflects ongoing efforts to combat deadly fentanyl in Greenwood. 
2. Piedmont Technical College computer expert Greg Potts thrives at solving unexpected challenges (whosonthemove.com) — A Greenwood-based IT leader at Piedmont Technical College is being recognized for modernizing student data systems and sharing his innovations at a national higher-ed technology conference. Greg Potts, who lives in Greenwood with his family, has helped speed up enrollment processing and improve financial data tools, all while rising through PTC's new Leadership Academy. His work aims to keep technology tightly aligned with students' needs.
3. Two Upstate men charged in theft ring targeting school buses in South Carolina and Georgia (wyff4.com) — Two Greenwood County men have been charged in a multi-state theft ring accused of stealing catalytic converters and diesel filters from school buses across South Carolina and Georgia. One suspect was booked in Orangeburg County, while the other faces receiving stolen goods charges in Greenwood County. Investigators from numerous agencies say more arrests are expected and urge tips about similar thefts.
4. Greenwood County sheriff's captain arrested on domestic violence charge (wspa.com) — A captain with the Greenwood County Sheriff's Office has been arrested in Abbeville on a third-degree domestic violence charge and is no longer employed by the agency. Police say the incident involved threatening messages and a late-night visit to a relative's home where his wife and children were staying. The case remains under investigation, and officials stress that the former captain is entitled to due process.
