
The governor of South Carolina bet some of Lexington's favorite barbecue on the Gamecocks to repeat as College World Series champions.
Gov. Nikki Haley wagered against Florida Gov. Rick Scott and his Gators, pitting 20 pounds of barbecue from Hudson's Smokehouse in Lexington against key lime pie from Key West, Fla. Â
South Carolina beat Florida to win College World Series on Tuesday night, shattering a number of records in the process. Â That's a win for Haley, and for Hudson's customers.

"I've known Nikki for a while and she's always been a good customer," Hudson's Smokehouse owner Robin Hudson said. "Hopefully we won't have to send the barbecue and I can help her eat some key lime pie."
Hudson said he froze 20 pounds of barbecue on Monday, just in case the Gators won the best-of-three series. Now that the Gamecocks are champs, that barbecue will need to find a good home.

"When we win," Hudson accurately said on Tuesday, "we'll have a raffle or something and someone can win the governor of Florida's barbecue."
