1. Deputies investigate Walmart shooting threat (lexingtonchronicle.com) — Lexington County deputies are investigating a phoned‑in threat about a man planning to shoot people at the Walmart on S. Lake Drive in Red Bank, just south of Lexington. No gunman, shots, or evidence of a shooting were found, but investigators are now focused on identifying whoever made the call and are asking residents for tips.
   

2. Lexington County Sports-A-Rama Overcomes Bad Weather (hssr.com) — High school football fans in Lexington County saw the annual Sports-A-Rama pushed through heat and storms, splitting games between Lexington and Pelion high schools. Despite delays, Lexington, White Knoll, Gilbert and others got valuable preseason reps, with coaches stressing growth, depth and staying healthy for deep playoff runs this fall.
   

3. Youngs Chapel plans Sept. 3 discussion on voting, civic participation (lexingtonchronicle.com) — Residents from Lexington County and across the Midlands are invited to a free Sept. 3 community conversation in Irmo on the history and power of voting. Hosted by Youngs Chapel AME Church, the event will explore South Carolina's voting rights history, tackle misinformation, and help neighbors prepare to participate in November's elections through an open, community-driven discussion.
   

4. 2010 South Carolina Tornadoes (wach.com) — A look back at South Carolina's 23 tornadoes in 2010 highlights a powerful EF2 that crossed Lexington County toward Lake Murray, damaging about 40 homes and downing trees and power lines.
