Trustees raised no objections on second reading, while Fine Arts supporters urged the board to protect music and arts funding that benefits students across the county’s schools.

2. Donald D. Longwith (wgog.com) — Family and friends in Walhalla are mourning the passing of Donald D. Longwith, whose loved ones are asking that memorial donations be mailed to a Rock Crusher Road address in town. The longtime Tennessee native and retired Senior Solutions employee is remembered as a devoted family man, football fan, and caring presence whose kindness and generosity touched several generations.

Ashley McBryde To Launch ‘Into The Wild Tour' In September (musicrow.com) — Country artist Ashley McBryde is bringing her new ‘Into The Wild Tour’ to the Walhalla Performing Arts Center on September 11, giving local fans a chance to hear songs from her just-released fifth album, Wild. The 26-date tour starts in Kentucky and hits cities nationwide, with tickets going on sale this Friday, May 15, and fan-club presales beginning Wednesday, May 13.

These 7 Easy South Carolina Trails Under 5 Miles Are Perfect Even If You're Not A Serious Hiker (everafterinthewoods.com) — Two of the featured easy hikes are right in Walhalla’s backyard: King Creek Falls in Oconee State Park and the Stumphouse Tunnel–Issaqueena Falls area. The guide also highlights several other short, scenic trails across South Carolina, giving Walhalla residents plenty of nearby and day-trip options for relaxed waterfall walks and forest strolls without strenuous climbs.
