Georgia regulators shut down bank and move assets to Anchor Bank (financialregnews.com) — A LaGrange-based bank, Community Bank and Trust – West Georgia, has been closed by state regulators, and all three branches have reopened under Anchor Bank while remaining FDIC insured. Most customers are fully protected, but those with more than $250,000 on deposit are urged to contact the FDIC to review their coverage and next steps.
   

2. Citizen speaks out on crime in senior community (lagrangenews.com) — Safety concerns at LaGrange’s Lafayette Village Senior Living Community reached the City Council, as a resident described nearby vacant homes occupied by homeless individuals and recent burglaries, including at an 87-year-old’s home. He urged city leaders and police for more patrols, saying seniors feel unsafe and want clearer criteria for increased protection.
   

3. Man found attempting to break into LaGrange homeowner's shed (wrbl.com) — LaGrange police say a man was caught trying to break into a homeowner’s shed near Brookridge Drive early Tuesday morning and was arrested after briefly running from officers. The case remains under investigation, and residents who may have seen anything are urged to contact Detective M. Ligon or submit anonymous tips through the Tip411 system.
   

4. WGTC's Dental Hygiene Class of 2026 Achieves 100% Pass Rate on CRDTS Exam (thecitymenus.com) — LaGrange is represented in West Georgia Technical College’s Dental Hygiene Class of 2026, which just earned a perfect 100% pass rate on the CRDTS clinical exam. Graduate Jaycie Edgar of LaGrange and her classmates will receive associate degrees this month, positioning them to become licensed dental hygienists and serve patients across Georgia and beyond.
   

5. "Fried Chicken Day," a nostalgic coming-of age quest set in the heart of the 1990s South is released (georgiaentertainment.com) — A new feature film, “Fried Chicken Day,” was shot entirely in LaGrange, showcasing LaGrange College, LaGrange High, and other familiar local spots. Directed by Alan M. Smith and written by retired LaGrange College professor John M. Williams, the 1990s coming-of-age story is now streaming on major platforms, giving residents a chance to spot hometown landmarks on screen.
