Judges will order on Chattanooga airport lawsuit motions with 'haste' (timesfreepress.com) — Control of Chattanooga's airport board remains unsettled as a three-judge panel weighs whether to dismiss the city's lawsuit challenging a new state law that shifted most appointments to state leaders. Chattanooga officials argue the change harms the city's long-held authority over the airport, while supporters of the new board say operations are thriving and public resources are being wasted on litigation.
   

2. New development along Rossville Boulevard, the beginning of 'Bring Back the BLVD.' (local3news.com) — A new mixed-use project called Central Crossing is taking shape on Rossville Boulevard as part of Chattanooga's "Bring Back the BLVD" revitalization push. With 32 residences and four ground-floor commercial spaces still available, backers hope restaurants, coffee shops, fitness studios, and other businesses will anchor long-term growth for nearby neighborhoods.
   

3. Chatt Prep teacher joins push to raise money for deported student and his family (newschannel9.com) — A Chattanooga Preparatory School teacher is helping raise money to bring a deported former student, Anastasio, and his family back from Guatemala so he can resume his education here. Supporters describe him as a strong role model for classmates and are using GoFundMe while awaiting more information from immigration authorities.
   

4. What's Right With Our Schools: Backpack Distribution at Harrison Elementary (wdef.com) — Students at Harrison Elementary just received free backpacks and school supplies thanks to Backpack Chattanooga and the Nehemiah Project, easing costs for many local families. Volunteers, including former students, helped deliver nearly 800 sets of supplies, aiming to support teachers' budgets and remind kids that their futures and stories matter.
   

5. Saving Money on Energy Bills (wdef.com) — As fall temperatures shift in Chattanooga, TVA and EPB say small thermostat changes, sealing air leaks, and maintaining HVAC systems can noticeably cut power bills. Local EPB Energy Pro Nate Thomasson urges homeowners to understand which appliances use the most electricity and consider free habits like cold-water laundry and unplugging electronics to keep upcoming bills in check.
