ETSU celebrates opening of new Academic Building (etsu.edu) — Students in Johnson City now have a new 67,000-square-foot Academic Building at ETSU, built entirely around classrooms, collaboration areas, and recording studios. With bright, plant-filled spaces and a new Bosque Plaza connection to the Culp Center, the facility is designed to boost learning, creativity, and campus life for years to come. 
2. ETSU presents Distinguished Faculty Awards (etsu.edu) — ETSU in Johnson City has honored three standout professors with its 2026 Distinguished Faculty Awards for teaching, research, and service, spotlighting work that directly benefits local schools and community programs. From innovative science education partnerships to pollinator research and STEM outreach, the winners' projects ripple well beyond campus into the region.
3. 'Paint your reality': Local artist Jason Flack shares his story behind the art (johnsoncitypress.com) — Johnson City's downtown streets and community have helped shape the bold, colorful paintings of local artist Jason Flack, whose work now appears in regional galleries and public projects. Kent State Men's Golf Reveals 2026-27 Schedule (kentstatesports.com) — A Division I men's golf tournament is slated for Johnson City this October when Kent State visits for the Bank of Tennessee event, putting the city on a nine-state collegiate schedule. Local fans can expect a competitive field as the Golden Flashes tune up for their conference championship run.
