Will Middle Tennessee See the First Snow of the Season Wednesday?

Flurries may fly in the Nashville area late Wednesday and early Thursday, but don't rush out for bread and milk.

NASHVILLE, TN — The first snow of the season may fall in Middle Tennessee late Wednesday night or early Thursday, but there's no reason to grease the runners on the sled.

The National Weather Service forecast office in Old Hickory is calling for "a very small chance of brief flurries after midnight" as a trough pushes through, with flurries likelier to the north and in higher elevations. "No accumulations will be experienced," but expect the coldest temperatures of the season to follow.

Highs on Thursday and Friday are expected to only reach the mid to upper 30s with overnight lows down in the teens. Another rainmaking system rolls in for the weekend and pushes temperatures back into the 50s.
