2nd Arrest Made In Cedar Park Wreck That Killed 2 Boys

CEDAR PARK, TX — A second suspect has been charged in a crash last month that killed two children and left their mother critically injured, according to reports.

Blake Ayres Kirkpatrick, 21, of Cedar Park has been arrested after being accused of drag racing ahead of the collision along West Whitestone Boulevard and Walton Way near U.S. 183, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

The Jan. 10 crash killed Daniel Chaudhary, 1, and Elijah Chaudhary, 9, at the scene. The driver of the vehicle in which the children were traveling, Zara Salman, 32, was left in a coma coma. Salman is the biological mother to the younger child and stepmother to the older boy, officials confirmed.

Police previously arrested Hayden Michael Hammer, 18, after charging him with two counts of racing on a highway causing death — a second-degree felony. Kirkpatrick’s attorney confirmed his client was charged with two counts of racing causing a death and one count of racing causing a serious injury. Kirkpatrick was booked into the Travis County Jail before being released on bond.
