DALLAS, TX — A 34-year-old woman first reported missing on Jan. 1 was found dead Tuesday in a home in the 3800 block of Castle Hills Drive in Dallas. According to a release from Dallas police, the body of Jacqueline Hughes was found during the second search conducted at the address.

Hughes was first reported missing on New Year's Day by her mother, who went to the South Central Patrol Station and told police her daughter had not been heard from since Christmas Day, the release stated. A missing persons detective began to investigate the case at this time.

On Jan. 4, officers were called to conduct a health and welfare check at the home on Castle Hills Drive. According to the release, the house appeared vacant, and there was no answer at the door. But only hours later a shooting occurred at the home, and police returned.

Jacqueline Hughes' brother, members of Hughes' family reportedly confronted a man identified by police as Jacqueline's boyfriend. Hughes' brother was accused of shooting someone in the house, who suffered non-life threatening injuries, the statement read. Dallas police have since confirmed that charges originally brought against Hughes' brother were later dropped. Officers searched the house after the Jan. 4 shooting incident but found no obvious evidence of Hughes' body at the time.

Four days later, on Jan. 8, Hughes' mother returned to the police station to provide additional information that led police to believe Hughes could be in imminent danger.
