Warrant Issued For Man Suspected In Jacqueline Hughes' Death

Brandon Charles Sampson, 31, is suspected in the death of 34-year-old Jacqueline Hughes, who was found dead Jan. 9.

DALLAS, TX — Police in Dallas are looking for a man suspected of killing Jacqueline Hughes, who was found dead in the garage of an Oak Cliff house in the 3800 block of Castle Hills Drive on Jan. 9. According to a probable cause affidavit released by Dallas Police Department, Hughes' body was found "concealed inside the garage" of the home.

According to the affidavit, Hughes was last seen on Dec. 25, 2017. On that date, just before midnight, she wished her mother a Merry Christmas via text message.

Her mother grew worried when she hadn't heard from her daughter in a week, so she reported Hughes missing on Jan. 1. But not before checking in on her daughter herself.

Hughes' mother went to the home in the 3800 block of Castle Hills Drive on Jan. 1. According to the affidavit, Sampson answered the door and told her that Hughes had gone to Miami for a modeling job. Sampson reportedly refused to allow the woman's mother inside of the home.

Hughes' mother then filed the missing persons report and set to work trying to locate her daughter with missing person flyers and social media posts.

Three days later, on Jan. 4, Hughes' mother returned to the house. Sampson again told her Hughes wasn't in the house, the affidavit states. Hours after her visit, an unidentified person fired shots into Sampson's house, and a witness sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Sampson was taken to Dallas Police Headquarters for questioning as a witness after the incident. He reportedly told investigators that Hughes' family had fired the shots because they were upset with him over the missing complainant.

Sampson then told Detective Jones he did not know where Hughes was. Sampson was considered a witness at this time and was not arrested or charged for any crimes.

According to an earlier release from Dallas Police, officers searched the house after the Jan. 4 shooting incident but found no obvious evidence of Hughes' body at the time.

After four more days had passed, on Jan. 8, a Facebook post from the suspect was sent to Dallas police. According to the affidavit, Sampson, who went by the nickname "Yezsir SpecialKingz" on Facebook, posted: "haha y'all think I really took that hoe to the airport maybe to f---- her for $20 then dump her a-- behind a lake r sum she gone stop looking I am to lol. This nasty b---- knew I had her. W---- bag she would have f----- for $20."

After police received the Facebook post, Hughes' missing person status was updated from a "want to locate" to an "endangered person." An endangered person designation includes issuance of bulletins, national teletypes and notifications to surrounding agencies. A search for Hughes began.

The Dallas Police Missing Persons unit pinged her phone and identified two locations in Farmers Branch where the phone was last used. According to the affidavit, the locations were near the home where her body was later found.

The area around a lake in Farmers Branch was searched, but Hughes' body was not found.

On Jan. 9, eight days after Hughes was reported missing, a search warrant was executed at the home. It was then that investigators found her body.

Sampson was not present during the search, the affidavit states, and has not been seen since Jan. 4.
