Woman Found Dead In White Rock Creek Identified
The body was that of 39-year-old Nicole Hall, sources say. A GoFundMe campaign aims to fund her funeral expenses.

DALLAS, TX — The woman found dead on May 12 in White Rock Creek has been identified as a 39-year-old Nicole Hall, the second transgender woman to die unexpectedly in Dallas last week.
Hall's body was found by a kayaker in the creek around 7:26 p.m. near the 6900 block of Merriman Parkway.
The woman's badly decomposed body was removed from the water and found to be wearing a black shirt and hospital scrub-type pants, Deputy Chief Thomas Castro said in a press conference.

The woman had no tattoos or other identifying marks, but did show some signs of injury, Castro said.
The death is being treated as unexplained.
A GoFundMe campaign aimed at funding Hall's funeral expenses detailed her friendship with Shannon Walker, a transgender activist and director of "A Nu Trans Movement, Inc."

"We transitioned together, confided in one another and we leaned on one another for strength and experiences in those days. Nicole was a true gem," Walker wrote on the GoFundMe page. "Nicole was a very motivated, happy girl that loved to sing and be the center of everyone’s attention. She was a pioneer in the Texas Black Trans Community, and paved the way for many transfolk that came after her."
The campaign aims to pay for Hall's transport, cremation and urn. Walker said Hall was uninsured and that the campaign will make her memorial possible.
"We will surely miss our 'Queen' and we hope that her spirit flies high and shines bright!" Walker wrote.
In an unrelated tragedy, a transgender woman was murdered in Dallas on May 9. Carla Patricia Flores-Pavon, 26, died Wednesday around 4:00 p.m. after an unidentified man was seen leaving her apartment in the 6100 block of LBJ Expressway.
Police say they do not believe the deaths are related.
Other members of the Dallas LGBT community, meanwhile, remain shaken after a string of attacks occurred in the city's Oak Lawn region.
Anyone with information about Hall's death is asked to call detective Chaney at 214-671-3650.
