City Opens New Pedestrian/Bike Bridge
Structure aimed to promote downtown walkability.

Lovers of the outdoors and fitness fanatic now have a new bridge and pedestrian bridge from which to enjoy downtown vistas
The $4.5 million structure at the intersection of Fourth and Rio Grande streets complements trails along Shoal Creek. The new extension is part of the city’s Shoal Cree Greenbelt Trail Improvements project.
A city official told KXAN-TV the new bridge is a much-needed enhancement to the ever-popular spot for walkers, joggers and bicyclists and promotes walkability for the downtown sector.

“It’s going to provide increased access for bicyclists and pedestrians and it’ll open up downtown more so that it is a more walkable city,” Courtney Black told KXAN.
The bridge has not been formally named. It’s scheduled to officially open upon completion of the Shoal Creek Improvements project next fall.
