Deep Eddy Pool to Close for Annual Spring Cleaning March 28-April 10
Check the city's website for year-round pool operating hours.

A week after Barton Springs Pool reopened after construction project, Deep Eddy Pool will close for its own annual spring cleaning and maintenance.
Austin Parks and Recreation announced the closure in a Friday press release. According to the notice, the pool will close on Saturday, March 28 and reopen on Friday, April 10.
Deep Eddy Pool is the oldest swimming pool in Texas. The concrete pool was built in 1915 by AJ Eilers, Sr. and gets its name from an eddy formed by a large boulder in a popular swimming area on the river.

Deep Eddy isn't the only Austin pool getting some love lately. Barton Springs closed the week of Feb. 23 so that crews could complete the skimmer bypass project. After a slight delay, the project was completed and the pool reopened on Saturday, March 21.
The skimmer bypass project involved removal of 1940s infrastructure designed to address creek flow from Barton Creek. Decades of flood events rendered the decommissioned bypass a safety and environmental hazard.
The city operates 44 different public aquatic facilities, including regional pools, three community pools, 22 neighborhood pools, a wading pool, 10 splash pads, and Barton Springs.
All but the six year-round facilities close every year for the winter and reopen when the air temperature is above 32 degrees.
