Rain, Thunderstorm Possible On Super Tuesday In Austin Area
Voters heading out to the polls on Tuesday, March 3, might think about taking an umbrella along just in case.
AUSTIN, TX — As voters head to the polls on March 3 for the primary elections dubbed Super Tuesday to cast ballots, the heavens may be casting showers — and a possible thunderstorm — to dampen the scene.
The day ahead of election day will form, climate-wise, in a way to usher in precipitation, with Monday expected to be mostly cloudy. And get this: The low on Monday is expected to be 62 degrees, with a high near 80 degrees. Drivers should be aware that patchy fog is expected before 9 a.m. on Monday morning.
Looks like spring has sprung some 19 days early.

Fortunately, the real likelihood of showers will descend late Tuesday night — well after the polls close at 7 p.m. Showers and a thunderstorm are possible, forecasters say, with the chance of precipitation at 90 percent.

So take your umbrella to the polling site just in case, but it looks like the real threat comes post-voting. Also: Use a reminder tactic of some sort so you won't forget that umbrella at the polling site. If Patch Austin had a nickel for each time an umbrella is inadvertently left behind....well, you know the rest.
The chance for showers and a possible thunderstorm linger into Wednesday, when it's expected to be mostly cloudy, with a high near 65 degrees. Wednesday night will be partly cloudy, forecasters said, with a low of around 47 degrees.
But you'll still be basking in the after-glow of having performed you civic duty, and Mother Nature will reward you with actual warmth. Come Thursday, forecasters are saying that it will be sunny with a high near 70 degrees. The wind will be negligible at 5 miles per hour from the north.
It will be mostly clear by nightfall, with a low of 46 degrees and that same puny, northern wind.
Friday: Sunny! With a high near 70! And mostly clear, with a low of 44 degrees! The last exclamation point was extraneous. But we're just as excited about witnessing democracy in action this week as much as you.
Happy voting! And don't forget that umbrella!
