4 Killed in Central California Bus Crash
The crash occurred early Tuesday morning along Highway 99 in Central California.

ATWATER, CA — Four people died and several were injured after a charter bus crashed into a pole in Central California early Tuesday morning, according to multiple local media reports.
Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke, who also serves as the county's coroner, initially put the death total at five but said Wednesday it was actually four.
KMPH reported the charter bus was traveling from Southern California to Sacramento.

The crash happened on Highway 99 and the northbound lanes of the road remain closed Tuesday morning. The Merced Sun-Star the bus was carrying around 30 people when it crashed around 3:30 a.m. The charter bus was reportedly traveling from Mexico to Washington State.
According to the CHP incident log, traffic on the highway is being diverted off Frontage Road.
