More Than 150 Athletes Pledge Support For Trans Youth In Sports
Athletes like Megan Rapinoe and Billie Jean King are among those asking a court to uphold trans sports participation in one U.S. state.

More than 150 athletes from around the world on Thursday added their names to a legal brief filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals to show their support for allowing transgender female athletes to participate with teams that match their gender identity.
Soccer star Megan Rapinoe and tennis great Billie Jean King were among the athletes that signed the brief filed by Lambda Legal, which is is urging the court to uphold a lower court's decision to dismiss a challenge to the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference’s rule that allows transgender student athletes to participate in school sports.
The athletes joined the WNBA, the Women's Sports Foundation and the Athlete Ally LGBTQ in signing the brief.

"There is no place in any sport for discrimination of any kind,” King said in a statement. “I'm proud to support all transgender athletes who simply want the access and opportunity to compete in the sport they love. The global athletic community grows stronger when we welcome and champion all athletes – including LGBTQI+ athletes."
