Royal Wedding Gospel Choir Performs In Westport Nov. 2
The Kingdom Choir performed "Stand By Me" at the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

CHT Westport: Tens of millions of viewers were astounded when, watching the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, they heard The Kingdom Choir sing their rendition of “Stand By Me.” Twenty years ago they were an informal singing group in South London; after the ceremony, record companies met them at the doors of St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, with contracts in hand. Now music lovers in Fairfield County have the opportunity to hear this stirring ensemble live at Christ & Holy Trinity Church in Westport. This is the group’s first-ever North American tour.
The concert will take place on Saturday, November 2, at 5:00 p.m. The singers will sing a variety of pieces, from spirituals to gospel and traditional hymns. Please stay afterwards to meet the visiting singers, greet one another, and enjoy refreshments. The choir’s newly-issued CD, Stand By Me, including their rendition of their signature piece of the same name, which so stunned the world, will be available as well.
Tickets may be purchased online at www.chtwestport.org/tickets or at the door if seats are still available. The church is located at the corner of Church Lane and Myrtle Avenue in downtown Westport. Next up on the Music & Arts calendar is a traditional service of Christmas Lessons & Carols sung by the choirs of Christ & Holy Trinity, Sunday, December 22 at 5:00 p.m. No tickets are required.
