WASHINGTON, DC — The United States will lift travel restrictions for fully vaccinated international travelers starting Nov. 8, the White House announced on Friday. White House spokesman Kevin Munoz confirmed the decision on Twitter, adding the policy "is guided by public health, stringent, and consistent."

Restrictions were first imposed on international travelers from China in January 2020 by then-President Donald Trump. The restrictions were then extended to dozens of other countries.

The White House still has other questions to answer before restrictions are lifted, including how and what exemptions the Biden administration will grant to the vaccine requirements. Children under 18 are largely expected to be exempt from the requirements.
