Lloyd Nelson, Patch Staff

Born in New Brunswick and raised in Manalapan, Lloyd Nelson attended Saint John Vianney High School before pursuing a journalism degree at Emerson College in Boston.

After graduation in 2008, Lloyd traveled to Beijing to cover the 2008 Summer Olympics. It was there he interviewed athletes such as Usain Bolt and discovered the joys and frustrations of a language barrier.

After his China experience, Lloyd moved to Thibodaux, Louisiana where he immersed himself in the bayou country. After nearly two years of covering alligators, oil disasters, flooding and shrimpers, Lloyd has returned to report on his hometown.

I was a registered Democrat for two years before I decided to switch to no party affiliation.  I stand with H.L. Mencken when he said: &#34;Under democracy one party always devotes its chief energies<br>to trying to prove that the other party is unfit to rule --and both commonly succeed, and are right.&#34;

<b>Religion</b>

I was born and raised Catholic but after years of struggling with my faith I&#39;ve become an agnostic, believing that atheism is a bit premature.
