Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder bowed to public and corporate pressure Monday, announcing the team is getting rid of the Redskins name after 87 years with it. The sports franchise said it plans to reveal a new name at a later date.

Virginia's Daily Coronavirus Cases Hit New High In July

On Monday, the Virginia Department of Health reported 972 new cases of the coronavirus, a new high for daily cases in July. The statewide cumulative totals stand at 71,642 cases, 6,765 hospitalizations and 1,968 deaths.

Family Of Ashburn Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash Urges Caution

Damion Robinson was traveling on his motorcycle last month to a friend's house to take care of their dog. Only a half-mile from his home in Ashburn, a car suddenly pulled out in front of him. The car crashed into Robinson, leaving him seriously injured. Robinson, 27, died from his injuries a few hours later at a nearby hospital.

7 People Shot To Death In District Over The Weekend: Police

From Friday through Sunday, seven people were shot to death in Washington, D.C., Metro Police said. Rewards are being offered in the cases to help authorities arrest and convict the shooters.
