Cop Rescues Scared Kitty From Car Engine In Clarendon

The officer coaxed the kitten out of a car engine, prompting a thank you from the Animal Welfare League of Arlington.

ARLINGTON, VA — A frightened kitten is safe after an Arlington police officer found the feline in a car engine in Clarendon over the weekend.

The Animal Welfare League of Arlington tweeted their thanks to Officer Madelyn Ernesto of the Arlington County Police Department, posting a picture Sunday of Ernesto holding the kitten in a towel.

"Thank you Officer Ernesto @ArlingtonVaPD, who found a kitten in a car engine and held on to him until we could get there. Thank you Officer!" AWLA wrote.

Ernesto was able to coax the kitten out of a car engine in Clarendon, AWLA wrote on their Facebook page, joking that the kitty was now named, "Grease Monkey."

Arlington County Police soon responded on their Twitter account: "We're committed to protecting and serving all of Arlington County's residents - including those on 4 legs!"
