📰 News we're reading
• Arlington labor force shrinks to smallest size in over four years (arlnow.com) — Arlington's employed workforce has fallen to its lowest level in more than four years, even as the county's unemployment rate edged down to 2.8% in August. Local leaders worry that federal job cuts, pandemic aftershocks, and high housing costs are pushing residents out, with similar employment declines showing up across Falls Church, Northern Virginia, and the broader D.C. metro area.

• Cookie chain Chip City shutters all locations, including in DC region (wtop.com) — Residents in Arlington are losing local Chip City cookie shops, but nearby bakery MidnighTreats is honoring any remaining Chip City gift cards and coupons at its Ballston Quarter location on Wilson Boulevard. You'll need to redeem them by Oct. 14, giving Arlington cookie fans a short window to use up any leftover credit before it expires.
