Police Looking at Possible Sixth Attack of a Woman in Arlington

Woman was attacked from behind Friday night near Lubber Run Park. Police aren't ruling out it could be same suspect from other attacks.

Arlington County Police are looking at the possibility that there has been a sixth attack by the same suspect on a woman in the county since late July.

The latest incident took place Friday night and is described in the county crime report released Monday:

SEXUAL BATTERY, 150821043, 400 block of George Mason Drive. At approximately 8:07 p.m. on August 21, a female victim was walking in a park area with her young child when a male subject touched her inappropriately. The victim was able to scream causing the suspect to flee. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his twenties, approximately 5’7” tall with a medium build. He was wearing a solid grey t-shirt, black shorts, and black tennis shoes at the time of the incident.

The description of the man is close to the one given by previous victims. The area of the attack is about in the middle of the 5-mile radius of previous attacks. All of the attacks have taken place“under the cover of darkness,” a county police spokesman has said. Friday’s attack was the earliest at 8:07 p.m. The time for the sun to set on Friday was 7:49 p.m.

  • Friday, Aug. 21, 8:07 p.m., 400 block of George Mason Drive near Lubber Run Park
  • Thursday, Aug. 13, 10:30 p.m., 800 block of S. Frederick Street
  • Saturday, Aug. 8, 2:45 a.m.: 1900 block of N. Highland Street
  • Saturday, Aug. 1, 11:26 p.m.: 4300 block of N. Pershing Drive
  • Friday, July 31, 8:45 p.m.: Glencarlyn Park area of the Washington & Old Dominion Trail
  • Sunday, July 25, 1:20 a.m.: 1900 block of 15th Street North

Police are cautioning residents to not walk alone, walk in well-lit areas, be aware of their surroundings and to report anything suspicious to 703-558-2222 or call 9-1-1 immediately if you are the victim of a crime.
