Track Fire Extinguished in Metro Tunnel in Arlington: Report

A Metro track fire was extinguished Wednesday by the Arlington County Fire Department and the Court House Metro stop has reopened, according to a message from WMATA.

The fire was located in the tunnel between the Rosslyn and Court House stops, according to a report by The Washington Post.

A report was released today by the National Transportation and Safety Board with safety recommendations regarding smoke and fire incidents on Metro.

The recommendations were made after the smoke incident at the L’Enfant Plaza Metro station incident that killed one and injured dozens more last month.

A Metro spokesman told the Post today that no trains were in the area of the fire while it was burning.

Orange and Silver lines were no longer single tracking as of 3:02 p.m. on Wednesday, according to WMATA. Residual delays continue in both directions due to the earlier fire department activity at Court House, Metro notes.
