VA Health Lowers Number Of Coronavirus Deaths In Arlington

Virginia Department of Health reported one less death in the Virginia Health District Wednesday due to the new coronavirus.

ARLINGTON, VA — The Virginia Department of Health adjusted its number of deaths Wednesday in the Arlington Health District due to COVID-19, the disease associated with the new coronavirus. The new total of COVID-19-related deaths in the Arlington Health District is 135, which is one less than the 136 previously reported. The change was the result of a data cleaning by VDH.

There are 24 new cases of COVID-19 in the Arlington Health District as of Wednesday morning, bringing the total number of cases in the health district to 2,997. In the health district, there have been a total of 436 hospitalized patients to date.

As of Wednesday, there are 95,049 total cases statewide, according to data reported by the Virginia Department of Health. In Virginia, there have been 2,274 coronavirus-related deaths to date. There have been a total of 8,126 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

There have been 17 coronavirus outbreaks in the Arlington Health District as of Wednesday, with 545 cases related to an outbreak. There have been 12 outbreaks at long-term care facilities, two outbreaks at a congregate setting and three outbreaks in health care settings in Arlington. There have been 180 reported coronavirus cases in Arlington health care workers.

Globally, more than 18.5 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 701,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Wednesday morning. In the United States, more than 4.7 million people have been infected and over 156,000 people have died from COVID-19.

The breakdown by age is as follows:

  • 0-9: 68 cases
  • 10-19: 151 cases
  • 20-29: 606 cases
  • 30-39: 558 cases
  • 40-49: 484 cases
  • 50-59: 422 cases
  • 60-69: 309 cases
  • 70-79: 181 cases
  • 80+: 205 cases
