• Second Eastern Shore Rail Trail segment opens in Cheriton (shoredailynews.com) — Cape Charles residents now have 3.6 continuous miles of paved Eastern Shore Rail to Trail, with the new Cheriton Segment linking directly to the existing Cape Charles stretch from Fig Street and Mason Avenue to Route 13. The $3.9 million VDOT project adds new trailhead parking and bike lanes, with more work ahead as the larger 49-mile trail toward Hallwood gradually takes shape.
   

• Urgent Marine Weather Message Issued amid Floods and Storm for Delaware, Virginia and Maryland as Conditions Worsen (travelinglifestyle.net) — A strong nor’easter is bringing coastal flooding, high surf, and dangerous marine conditions to Virginia, including Northampton and Accomack counties and offshore waters from Baltimore Canyon to Cape Charles. Expect tides 2 to 3 feet above normal, seas up to the low 20-foot range offshore, and wind gusts near 50 mph, with officials urging residents to avoid flooded roads and mariners to stay in port.
