• ‘Heroic': 3 teens participating in high school golf team tryouts save family from drowning in lake (kold.com) — Three Eastern View High School golfers in Culpeper jumped into Lake Culpeper during team tryouts to rescue a family, including a child who couldn’t swim, after their kayaks capsized. Culpeper police and school staff are praising the teens’ quick, selfless actions, which brought everyone safely to shore before first responders arrived. 
• An Additional 40 Virginia Localities Receive USDA Drought Disaster Designations (virginianreview.com) — Culpeper farmers are now officially eligible for USDA drought disaster assistance, including potential emergency loans through the Farm Service Agency. The designation recognizes severe drought conditions across Virginia and gives local producers eight months from the declaration date to apply for help, with details available through the Virginia FSA State Office.
