ALEXANDRIA, VA — The wait is over for fans of Bagel Uprising as its permanent location opened at 2307A Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray. The shop held a soft opening on Sept. 25, and its website says it opens daily at 7 a.m.

Founder Chad Breckinridge created Bagel Uprising to bring quality bagels in Alexandria. Using flour, yeast, salt, malt, and brown sugar as ingredients, he created a bagel recipe that has attracted a local following. Bagel Uprising started at the Four Mile Run Farmers and Artisans Market in September 2015 and was most recently at SnackBar. Left without a location when SnackBar closed after Labor Day 2018, Bagel Uprising launched a search for a new location.

The location at 2307A Mount Vernon Avenue became available after Happy Tart suddenly closed in early 2019. Bagel Uprising coordinated with Nicole Jones of Stomping Ground to open the location.
