FBI: Serial Armed Robber Hits Alexandria Bank Friday

FBI says suspect has robbed four banks in area since Nov. 14; see four photos below.

An Alexandria bank was robbed at gunpoint Friday, according to the FBI, by a man they think has robbed four banks in the area since Nov. 14.

He’s the second serial bank robber in the area to confound authorities this month.

On Friday, Dec. 12, at 12:53 pm, a black male subject robbed the Burke & Herbert Bank, at 155 N. Paxton St. in Alexandria, according to the FBI. The bank is located in the West End of Alexandria, off of Duke Street just east of the Landmark Mall area.

The other serial bank robber, the Sharp-Dressed Bank Robber, hit his third bank last Wednesday, in Old Town Alexandria.

The suspect from the Friday robbery is described as being between the ages of 25 to 35, and about 5’11” to 6 feet tall. The subject was described as wearing a red puffy winter jacket, a black knit hat and black pants.

The FBI says they think the suspect is responsible for four bank robberies in the area. The other robberies were:

  • On Friday, Nov. 14, the subject robbed the M&T Bank located at 7857 Heritage Drive, in Annandale.
  • On Thursday, Nov. 20, the subject robbed the Suntrust Bank located at 4616 Kenmore Ave., in Alexandria.
  • On Monday, Dec. 1, the same subject robbed the M&T Bank located at 7857 Heritage Drive, in Annandale.

During each of the robberies, the subject entered the bank, approached a victim teller, displayed a weapon, a gun, and verbally demanded money. During the Dec. 1, robbery the subject fled the bank on a bicycle.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of this bank robber.SHOULD BE CONSIDERED ARMED AND DANGEROUS
